Kind of what I was saying in a different post. Lara is barely a character yet but because she’s in everyone’s faces every day it grants a bit of an unfair advantage over more established characters that have left the limelight.
Clearly Lara is enough of a character for the fans to love her. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter that her development isn’t finished yet. What matters is the subscribers are enjoying their time with her. If they weren’t, she wouldn’t have just crushed Eva.
And really I wouldn’t say that Lara has an unfair advantage, mostly because of her seeding. She may have just had an upset against Eva, but now she’s gonna have to face Isabelle in the next round. And as popular as Lara is, she’s not gonna beat Isabelle.

Lmfao recency bias is a hell of a drug
Yuuuup, that’s the main reason I voted for Eva. They’re just about equal in my mind, but I figured most people would vote Lara, so I wanted to offset recency bias, at least a little.
I’ll admit that’s why I voted for Eva too. I honestly thought that Lara would win a close vote due to recency bias and that voting Eva would help make it a little closer. I just did not expect the vote to be this much of a blowout, especially since I honestly would put Eva and Lara on the same level of cuteness. This certainly proves that recency bias is a thing.
Eva is among my favourite characters of all time from the Foxverse, and I haven’t been much of a fan of Lara so far, so I am pretty sad to see Eva losing here.

I love Eva more than Lara, but I know that Lara is gonna knock it out the park unfortunately.

Fractured was my favorite comic so far. A bit of nostalgia as it was the first comic I saw from the beginning, but I also loved the characterization and development of the characters. Especially Lily. I had to draw multiple new mouths for her since her expressiveness and attitude could not be contained to what we already had. I haven’t had to do that for any other character on this whole site. It should not be surprising Lara is current and Eva is past. People will automatically pick something they see every day over something they have to remember or look up
Eh, I don’t necessarily agree with that. By your logic, Ariana should have beaten Jamie and Mary shouldn’t have lost to Amanda. There have been instances of older characters beating newer ones, and new characters coming out on top over the nostalgic characters. So it really just depends on if people really like that character, regardless of how old they are.
Just wait until the next round when Lara faces Isabelle (aka when Izzy beats Lara) and you’ll see what I mean.
Neither of your examples are really all that recent. Ariana and Mary were both from 2018 one-shots. It’s currently 2021, nearly three years later.
They aren’t as old as the characters they faced off against, but still definitely not “current” characters.
Though it is possible Lara has an advantage cause the main place this poll gets linked every day is from the daily comic.
Ariana and Mary are far more recent and new than Jamie and Amanda though. loliver was saying that any time a newer character is playing an older character, the newer character should always win. By his logic, Ariana and Mary should have won their matches but they didn’t. Loliver didn’t say anything about the character being “current.” Only that they were newer. Even though Lara will probably win this round she probably will get knocked out going up against Izzy in the next. It’s a shame she drew such a tough bracket.
