That’s okay, Norelli: I’m sure the Glumine will let you breed with them!

The Glumine can’t breed with Noreli. They can only breed with egg-laying species like birds and reptiles. Plus the pink Glumine seem to not be interested in breeding, since the one who attacked Dayla didn’t even know what “breeding” was.

So while a Glumine will probably transform Noreli at some point, it won’t be for it breed with her.

Has anyone considered that in the event the glumine changes Norelli’s gender that the rest of their genetics will change in tow making it so that the Noreli will have genetic ranking entirely?

I mean even if Noreli’s genetics were altered after her transformation, it wouldn’t mean anything until she went back to Mayverno and got retested. And I doubt that the Mayvern government would test a female Noreli. It sounds like a Mayvern can only ever get tested once in their lives on their 15th birthday. The government would know that she would have already had the test years ago and that the results of the test can’t be changed. And I doubt the government would buy the “I used to be a male, but my genetics might be good now that… Read more »

Let me guess, Noreli isn’t allowed to breed, isn’t he?

So the Mayverns are hardcore into some 1940s style eugenics. That’s…a little darker than my initial interpretation.

(I assumed that they had so much genetic diversity that inbreeding was not dangerous for them–which I believe is the case for some animals on earth, but humans have relatively low genetic diversity, so inbreeding in humans tends to lead to poor results).

I like the plot twist here….its very interesting. Maybe being tg’d might help out Noreli? If he’s a woman made into the ultimate breeding machine, he’ll get his wish come true.

jimmy your feelings are correct .

If Noreli only has 2 siblings, then their parents must be blue cards. Not “elite” category, but still able to reproduce.

Noreli’s definitely yellow. 180 years old and still no kids? Dead giveaway.

First Incest and Now Eugenics-based Society? Geez being a Mayvern really Sucks.

The eugenics is probably why incest doesn’t cause them genetic trouble. Incest itself doesn’t necessarily lead to problems in every case. The risk comes from the fact that there is a much greater likelihood that closely related individuals will share similar genetic defects and there will be no other genetic material to possible counteract those. Effective genetic screening for the deleterious traits would prevent them from getting amplified through multiple generations.

That also means that the whole race can die out from a mediocre virus, instead of some people just plain ol getting sick and maybe die.

I guess being the most intelligent species in the known galaxy means having to emphasize those eugenics. It must be the price for intelligence.
