It might seem cruel and extreme. But I honestly still think this is the right choice. Keep the island contained until they can do something about the virus. This really is something that could end humanity.
Given this site, I think a lot of use wouldn’t mind catching this. But if the disease can still spread after we turn, it wouldn’t be fair to those people who DON’T want to turn.

Total overkill. Not to mention the side effects of fallout poisoning the water. WW2 era conventional bombs would be more than enough to level the island. Modern weaponry is well beyond that.
Yeah, that may be the wet dream of 2nd Amendment aficionados, but it’s a completely absurd premise against the modern US military. 10,000 armed civilians can’t stand up to even a single tank brigade, let alone aircraft.
