i knew that Zoey, Shane and Gavin would be shocked by the news from the outside world about their death’s courtesy of their new friend Nathan. i wonder if Shane will let his dad know the news that he just got from Nathan about what the government has told the outside media.

Every one in this group has gone through struggles, at least now they know what happened outside the quarantine.

It’s nice to see Zack/Zoey is still getting use out of his Cloak of Invisibility. He really should try it out more.

Thing is though, the methodology might not be the best, but the government is right to lock down the island. This illness is still a literal existential risk to the human race. If it spread, eventually the human race would go extinct. Even if you kept a sperm bank and impregnated women that way – we don’t know if anyone infected can even give birth to males anymore. And going a step further, even if they could, those males would likely still get infected anyway, since those infected, remain infected as carriers. It’s not like influenza, or some other directly… Read more »

I think that they’ll try to get back to the mainland.
I wonder if there’s any planes on the island; since outrunning a Navy ship by sea is very unlikely, but with a plane it’s possible to leave?

You wouldn’t be able to outrun military aircraft in most civilian planes. Heck a Black hawk or Apache helicopter can outrun a Cessna.

Not to mention they don’t even need to launch their own aircraft. One surface to air missile and problem solved. And I promise you that frigate would have those.

Anti-air is pretty much the main role of a modern frigate(some are anti submarine), so yeah they would definitely have them.

Why would the military want to bomb the island? More importantly, why would Sam want the military to bomb the island? If they did that, it would mean everyone we’ve been following for the last 210 pages would be dead and the comic would be over. That wouldn’t advance the story, it would prematurely end the story. If the rest of the comic is any indication, the military and government are doing everything they can to help the population of Cinder Isle (giving them food, clothes, medical supplies, etc., all while trying everything to find a cure for the virus),… Read more »

Listen to four dead in Ohio by Crosby, Still, Nash and Young With that being stated, I have been on this ball of mud longer that most of you. When I was growing up, slide ruler was our computer. When I was a young man when Fix’n to die rag came out. The military like using military solutions first before humanitarian. In the 50’s the military was doing above ground testing on nuclear and thermonuclear devices using both the military personal and indirectly civilians of the Bikini Island and surroundings area, in which have a high death rate do to… Read more »

As someone who can look into the future of this comic, I can honestly say that there are no bombs or missiles heading for Cinder Isle anytime soon. Sam intends for this comic to be as long as the other comics, so somewhere around 350-400 pages. Like I said, if the military were to bomb Cinder Isle, that would be the end of the comic and all the characters we’ve gotten to know, understand and even love will be dead. That wouldn’t be satisfactory or rewarding to the readers who have already invested over 200 days into this comic. Even… Read more »

It just flash through my mind. In all honestly you got tons to work with all the subplots that need to be range in. what I most worry about is hitting a writer’s black hold where you keep branching out and then give up on the story. Trust me I have seen it happen. Also you can do flash backs, cut over to different government on the main land as they start to do political posturing what to do with the people as the military wants to make a new generation of superweapons or the have them disappear. The scientist… Read more »

Obviously Sam would not want to end the story like that. But it is a sound decision in this scenario. This illness is a threat to the human race, and now they are dealing with dangerous and unknown creatures too. Burning the whole island to a cinder would be one potential solution to the problem. But the military still might also hold back because they still don’t know what they are dealing with and might be worried that doing that might trigger something else, and something worse. Especially since they now know that just pulling a few of those red… Read more »

they used terms like “Tabloid Media” . the term Fake News only came around within the elections of 2012, and 2016.

No, not like we use it today. But “fake” and “news” can still be put together in that manner. There would be nothing stopping someone from saying it before it was popularized. Contrary to Trump’s bull shit, he did not invent the word “fake”.

fake news sigh did we have to go there, really? and also do none of these people relies the infection is a threat to the entire human race as well as likely all animal life as well. sure humans might be able to contunie for a little while after complet infection takes place and everyone’s a women. via sperm banks but the same isn’t true for animals. like I think no one nose about the that was infected yet. but its likely already infected the rest of the mouse poplation and when it dies. eather via predation or old age… Read more »

Birds and marine predators go to and from the island already. A Vulture could feed on an infected dead animal, fly to the main(e) land and infect a human food animal through some convoluted who eats what chain and Voila, the mainland has men turning into gorgeous women too! Magicians aren’t usually stupid, they’ll see the danger to all humans, unless some asshole persuades them that the only men around should be sorcerers. Of course, Sylvana is crazy like that…

people seem to think this is one of Sylvana’s plans a back up, or contingency. and while she is Thanos levels coco for koko puffs I doubt she would realise a plague that could whip out all biologacl life on the planet that has a gender. as she seems to be a magical supremist and its hard to rule over a world of everything dies with in a generation. sure mages might be able to protect themselves but everything else is fucked 12 ways to Tuesday. and are magers strong enough to undo the plague for every food web on… Read more »
