I think Carlos is thinking as both Carlos and Carmen. As a person Carlos/Carmen has seen Aaron’s true self, and both of them now respect him and are willing to put Carlos’ grudges against Aaron behind them.
I like that and I agree, the thought bubbles are switching between normal and scripted in each panel. But with the normal typeface and typical female type thoughts. is there a printing mistake or is Carmen’s thoughts the norm?

It was identified clearly as part of the original spell way back in the beginning, and it is in the wiki, I know only because looked it up recently. But except for this page, any reference that benefits Carlos was pretty much ignored. So you’re definitely not blind nor not paying attention 😉
