In a world were magic exists under the general rules laid out by Sam in his creations, I think gender would generally be a more fluid thing then in our reality. Particularly if you were a “gold”, you would take changing yourself for granted. Changing your appearance- including gender- would be taken very lightly. I suspect a “gold” in Sam’s world would think no more of changing their gender then we would of putting on a different jacket. I wonder if that was deliberate. She says “acting LIKE Caroline”. Makes me think that this Caroline personality may be copied off of a different person. This supports my assumption that Lorraine wants to replace Oliver, not turn him into a girl.
