I’m really at an impasse with this series specifically. Stuff like Swapping Faces has it’s issues at times (the AI voice used in it’s most… physically intimate episode was especially bad), and sometimes the melodrama in things is exaggerated a bit too much (such as with Double Trouble)… but this series just kinda spins the same wheels with each episode. It’s mostly just Erica being miserable, and Mark doing whatever he wants. There’s no… I dunno, forward momentum beyond “Look at how awful Mark is!” It’s especially frustrating because there’s an interesting premise here, but some aspects of it have… Read more »

7/10. The episode is well-paced and all that, but we really should’ve seen some foreshadowing for Mark’s eventual downfall. Without it, the cliffhanger just feels too mean-spirited. Also, the sound effect of Mark’s phone ringing is a bit too loud.

A lot of people should realize that Mark is letting his overconfidence and arrogance get the better of him by making him think he is invincible and untouchable. He fails to realize or care that he cannot use regent magic to brainwash a sorcerer and/or alter their personalities/memories. Also since Mark is a non-blood, he cannot detect if a person is a sorcerer or non-blood even if they do not have their mana mark suppressed.

I don’t think the issue is that they’re using episodes for talking, per say. I think the issue is more that it feels like an issue because of how much of the story is just “OoOoOo Look how evil Mark is!” and what not, without really hinting at his actual comeuppance. Sort of a “yes, we get it, please get on with what comes next” kinda thing.

Im always like “burn the evil” but in this case im weirded out in how he just.. doesnt start fucking with ericas mind because he’d find his life to be a lot easier with a erica whos under his control

Oh, but he is messing with her mind, in the most evil way possible – making her watch while fully aware of what he’s doing. PSY-OPS 101. Totally mess with someone’s very existence, and leave them believing they have no choice but to bend over and take it.

Brew Stag has fallen on hard times. They couldn’t afford to give them utensils to eat their salads with and… no dressing!!! Also, the lady in the blue dress in the back ground is having a rip roaring conversation with the empty chair across from her!

Otherwise a great episode that makes you just want to see Marc fail even harder!
