If this comic were based in 2019 I would tend to agree with you (although I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was transphobic), but this is set in the 1990s and attitudes about gender identity were very different then.

Are these people southern time travellers from the 1800s? I was born and raised in the deep south and I have never heard someone use the word “tarnation” unironically.

There are very few firearms that actually use clips as the ammunition feeding device, and virtually every semi-automatic pistol uses a detachable box magazine (or just magazine/mag for short). Remeber, magazines, not clips.

That last panel was a low blow. It makes both kids feel like “others” in the family.
